When making your summer plans this year, you may consider Kentucky Lake. It’s the largest lake east of the Mississippi River with over 160,000 acres and plenty of places to explore. Paris Landing State Park is located on the western side of Kentucky Lake in Buchanan, TN. It attracts over 750,000 visitors per year, according to tn.gov. The park boasts 841 acres of land on the shores of the lake, a par-72, 18-hole golf course, and a recently remodeled restaurant and lodge. It also contains 10, 3-bedroom cabins and a campground with over 50 campsites.

Last year, Paris Landing State Park won the competition provided by Tennessee State Parks in partnership with Tennessee State Parks Conservancy where enthusiasts could cast their vote for their favorite Tennessee State Park. Each dollar of contribution during the event counted as one vote for the park. Paris Landing State Park ended in a whopping $11,602 in contributions and immediately headed a beautiful remodel of the Paris Landing Lodge.
I had the opportunity to photograph an extended family session on film of a family visiting the park. I was blown away by the beautiful architecture and the scale of the new restaurant and lodge. As soon as you drive up to the lodge by car or by boat the grandness exudes luxury. The lodge contains 91 guest rooms including 6 upscale suites–all with a view of the lake. It also holds multiples conference spaces, a full-service restaurant and bar, and a beautiful pool and fire pits. It was designed by Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC).
Everything was top notch including the restaurant and bar. It has an extensive menu which looks delicious. However, the experience, ambiance and view of the lake alone is well-worth the trip there. Feel free to sit inside or outside on their patio or simply enjoy a beverage around one of the fire pits outside. Just be sure to make a reservation if you’re visiting on a weekend!
If you are a visitor of Paris Landing State Park, you can expect to find plenty of activities to experience during your stay. The park sits on the widest part of Kentucky Lake and is ideal of water sports including boating, fishing, sailing, and waterskiing. The park also contains 2 tennis courts and plenty of trails, both paved and unpaved. And remember, it also boasts a beautiful pool and challenging golf course. According to their website, the park pro shop provides golfing supplies, lessons, carts and rental clubs.
